Baptism and Faith
Welcome to worship at St. Andrews Church. In 1 Kings 8:41-43, the temple was established as a house of prayer for both Israelites and foreigners. We want everyone to feel safe and joyful in seeking God’s blessings at St. Andrews.
God invites each person to walk with Him. Walking is about taking step after step, not taking one step and standing still. Walking means moving forward, like having conversations with God, listening to Him, trusting in Jesus, and experiencing His love and generosity more and more.
Believing in Jesus means two things simultaneously – trusting Him and knowing Him. However, the truth is that no one can know everything about Jesus. Some people need to ask many questions about Jesus before they are willing to trust Him, while others believe in Him almost immediately! Nevertheless, we all need to walk with Jesus day by day to know Him better and trust in Him more.
Baptism is a gift from God for those who want to follow Jesus. It’s not like a final exam in class, but rather the beginning of a life of faith in Jesus. In baptism, Jesus promises to give the gift of forgiveness through His death on the cross to His followers, and the gift of new life through His resurrection to believers (Ephesians 1:19, 20).
At St. Andrews Church, we invite you to be baptized whenever you are ready. This might be a decision you need to discuss with your family first. There was a woman in the Bible who did just that, and her whole village wanted to know Jesus too (John 4:16, 40)! We want you to make this decision in a way that honors and blesses your family.
